Welcome to the ASHE North-Central New Jersey Section website!
We have just concluded an outstanding 2009-2010 year, and are already working hard in preparing for our upcoming year that will begin again in September. On May 6th, our Section hosted its annual golf outing at Mountain View Golf Course located in Trenton to raise funds for our student scholarship awards. The outing was a huge success with an excellent turnout from a wide variety of professionals in the business. Our gratitude is extended to our many sponsors, as well as the many volunteers, including our Golf Outing Committee Chair Larry Fink, who helped make the day for everyone enjoyable and fun. Click to see the list of our Golf Outing Sponsors.
We are currently organizing our Program for the upcoming year, and will look to offer meeting programs on topics that are educational and important to our industry. If you have a suggestion for a program presentation, please contact one of our Section's Officers listed on the next page - we would love to hear from you.
As many of you know, Continuing Education requirements for professional engineers are coming to New Jersey (http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2008/Bills/AL09/294_.PDF). Professional engineers in New Jersey will be required to complete 24 credits of continuing professional competency relating to the practice of professional engineering, two of which credits shall be in professional practice ethics, during each biennial licensure period to be eligible for renewal of their licenses.
For the past several years, our Section has been very proactive in offering to its members monthly meeting programs that provide Professional Development Hour (PDH) credits, as required for professional engineers with a license in New York State. With the Continuing Education requirement for professional engineers in New Jersey anticipated to take effect within the next year, our Section will continue to be proactive in providing educational programs to meet these PDH requirements coming to our state.
Lastly, the strength of any professional society such as ASHE depends solely on the level of active participation of its membership. If you are a professional in any capacity in the highway industry, it is in your best interest to become a member of ASHE (http://www.ashenj.org/docs/2009_MEMBERSHIP_APP_FORM.pdf). If you are already a member, make sure to renew your annual membership (http://www.ashenj.org/docs/2010-2011 Dues notice.doc), and then become an active member by joining a committee and offering your time and your talents - the networking and exposure it provides is great for your career, great for your employer, and great for our organization.
We'll see you in a few months, and hope to hear from you sooner.
ASHE Mission Statement:
"Provide a forum for members and partners of the highway industry to promote a safe, efficient and sustainable highway system through education, innovation and fellowship."
