President’s Message
Happy New Year! The holidays have come and gone.  We have started off with a great first half to our professional meeting presentations.  Starting with our joint meeting with the Southern Section in September, Assistant Commissioner Richard Hammer presented the Capital Program Management reorganization and a preview into the FY 2012 Capital Program.  We followed with a joint field/dinner presentation with the ASCE North Branch in October.  The presentation was on the Rt. 3 Passaic River Crossing, jointly presented by the Contractor, Creamer-Sanzari and the Design team, Dewberry and HNTB.  The November meeting was a very well attended ethic seminar presented by Lawrence P. Powers, Esq. of Longo, Moran, Dunst & Doukas, LLP. This presentation afforded the participants the opportunity to earn the 2 PDHs required for the renewal of the NJ PE license.  We finished 2011 with a presentation on turnkey wetland mitigation in New Jersey.  This was very informative presentation by Jamie Holt and Mark Henna of Evergreen Environmental.

We are starting off 2012 with a joint ASHE NC-NJ/ASCE North Branch presentation on January 10, 2012, on the MPT Coordination for the Garden State Widening Projects, MP 48 to 63.  The presenters will be Lamis Malak, PE of the NJTA and the Program Manager, Atkins North America.

The January meeting will also be our scholarship awards night.  Two scholarships will be given out to students who attend college in New Jersey and are studying engineering, and a third new scholarship, to the child of an ASHE North-Central member who is attending college in any State.

Continue to check this website for updates to our meeting schedule and program.  If you have a presentation you would like to make, please contact Larry Diffley at ldiffley@cherryweber.com or myself at rlewis@hntb.com
